I should say that iptables saved my neck again when I was next to be on the mattress...

At work I manage a network of 400 workstations with windows, last friday I got a windows worm (spreading fast) which started to spam and after a few hours I got banned in the black list of spamcop having a DOS of mail inside my network. In the meantime of cleaning out each box I used iptable's recent module to avoid getting into black list again... a tutorial of recent usage is here

I've to say that do work problems I had to re-read QoS documents and during the research I re-found Wonder Shaper which I used a few years ago for testing purpouses. I decided to give it a try and I even found that there has been not much progress since April 2002 and now it is even debianized with a few patches, so after a few minutes I understanded the setup again and get marveled by the results. There has been many progress in kernel queues to make this happen since last time I gave a try.
There is a quick howto for Ubutu

I'm digging what I can do with this tool and starting to make use of it...

The reason of the post is directly related to my personal feelings of my community and how I'm related to... once a read how Ian Murdock expressed about linux and he said something like:
"Linux es el proceso de colaboración humana e internacional mas sensacional de la epoca postmoderna, que es una extraordinaria expresión de la libertad en la diversidad"
So, the title of this blog was inspired by that.

Last weekend I bought a plane ticket to Utrecht, Neatherlands on August 24. I've never been there but my girlfriend will be there for work. I've already visited a library and finally visited wikipedia to learn a about the place. I'm excited about it so I'll post about it in the near future.

The first thing about posting is who will be reading this shit and what I'll post; as I've read about blogs and even see them as a tool for work I've decided to start one.
I would like this blog to be a reference/help tool for me and my community and ironically I've decided to write it up in english besides my language is spanish.

Tasks of my job and comments about personal activities.

What I do believe...
Linux es el proceso de colaboración humana e internacional mas sensacional de la epoca postmoderna, que es una extraordinaria expresión de la libertad en la diversidad
